The term“Ottoman” is derived from Osman's name, which was“Uthman” in Arabic.

When the people saw what Uthman was doing, the companions of the Prophet in Medina wrote to other companions who were scattered throughout the frontier provinces:"You have gone forth but to struggle in the path of Almighty God, for the sake of Muhammad's religion. In your absence the religion of Muhammad has been corrupted and forsaken. So come back to reestablish Muhammad's religion." Thus, they came from every direction until they killed the Caliph(Uthman).
جب لوگوں نے عثمان کی حرکتیں دیکھیں، انہوں نے نبی(ص) کے دوسرے صحابہ جو عرب کے دوسرے صوبوں میں تھے کو خطوط لکھے، تم لوگ اللّٰہ کی راہ میں، محمّد کے دین کی خاطر دور دور گئے ہو، تمہاری غیر موجودگی میں محمد کا دین بھلا دیا اور خراب کر دیا گیا ہے۔ لہٰذا اسکو دوبارہ سے ویسا ہی کرنے واپس آجاؤ۔ لہٰذا وہ تمام خِطوں سے واپس آتے گئے یہانتک کہ انہوں نے خلیفہ(عثمان) کو قتل کردیا

Ali(a), may God's blessings be upon him, saw that many of his relatives were martyred, told his brothers'Abd Allah, Ja'far, and'Uthman,'O sons of my mother!
عباس بن علی-خدا ان پر رحمت فرمائے- نے جب دیکھا کہ بہت سارے اصحاب حسینی شہید ہو چکے ہیں تو اپنے بھائیوں عبداللّہ، جعفر اور عثمان سے فرمایا: اے میری ماں کے بیٹو!
