III. Contingency list of project grants recommended by the Board of Trustees.
The Board in 1997 recommended two travel grants on a contingency list, subject to receipt of voluntary contributions, which could be awarded in 1999.
The proposed contingency list includes 10 nongovernmental organizations in 10 countries including Brazil(1), Côte d'Ivoire(1), Ghana(1), Haiti(1), India(1), Pakistan(1), Tajikistan(1), the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia(1), Togo(1) and Uganda(1) see list of project grants in annex II.
The Group also recommended three other grants for projects on a contingency list(annex IV. B), which will be paid should a sufficient amount of new contributions be received.
The Board decided to establish a contingency list of 10 additional possible beneficiaries to attend the WGIP Working Group on Indigenous Populations for a total amount of about US$ 33', 000 see Annex VI.
As soon as sufficient funds were available the recommended order of priority for expenditure is the following:project grants(contingency lists I and II, see paras. 22-23 below); seminars Atlanta, see para. 28 below; African subregional seminars, see para. 29 below.
The Group also recommended that a contingency list of additional projects submitted by indigenous communities and organizations amounting to US$ 92,000 be approved see annex III, sect. B.
In accordance with the order of priorities recommended by the Advisory Group andgiven the amount of contributions available, the first 14 project grants on the first contingency list recommended by the Advisory Group at its fourth session and approved by the High Commissioner were paid see E/CN.4/Sub.2/AC.4/1999/4, annex 2.
The Board also recommended a contingency list of 15 project grants for a total amount of US$ 108,000 which will assist 15 non-governmental organizations in India cf. chart of project grants attached as annex III.
The Group recommended that,subject to the availability of funds, the project grants recommended in the first contingency list should be awarded according to the order of priority proposed by the Group, for a maximum total of about US$ 150,000.
The Group also recommended that a contingency list of nine projects submitted by indigenous communities and organizations, amounting to US$ 74,347, should be approved(see annex III), subject to receipt of the official receipt vouchers of the voluntary contribution from Denmark.
As several Governments had announced pledges to the Fund to be paid in the coming weeks,the Board decided to establish a contingency list of four additional possible beneficiaries to attend the working group on the draft declaration, for a total amount of about US$ 15,128.
The Group was obliged to recommend a contingency list of projects that could be paid subject to the receipt of voluntary contributions which donors had pledged and said would be available very soon, but for which no official receipt vouchers had yet been received.
