Such is my pledge to the President and members of this Assembly.

Secondly, regarding what was referred to by the delegation of the United Kingdom and the delegation of the United States namely, that these allegations which, according to them, we make in order to divert attention from what they call Libya's record which, they say, is one of terrorism,we think that all countries of the world, Members of this Assembly know full well the real reason which put us at the mercy of the Security Council.
We should ask ourselves if we, the members of this Assembly, can passively accept the threat posed by this unilateral imposition.
Members of this Assembly should know that that is the main reason why my country does not agree to the extradition of the suspects to either the United States or the United Kingdom.
With that election, which honours your country,the Group of Eastern European States and the members of this Assembly have unanimously recognized, Sir, your eminent competence and your perfect knowledge of the Organization.

The draft resolution that you, the members of this Assembly, are about to adopt affirms that the General Assembly and the Secretary-General are working in partnership to bring about the quiet revolution that I announced on 16 July.
In the light of the aforementioned circumstances, we have no doubt that members of this Assembly will again lend their valuable support to this draft resolution, given its purely humanitarian nature and the hope it carries for the achievement of peace and stability in the Sudan.
