The Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition, and Other Related Materials adopted by West Africa could, we believe, serve as a guide for the international community.
In 2006, the Economic Community of West African States adopted the Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
The new ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, their Ammunition and other Related Materials is an innovative tool that will further contribute to the establishment of a safeand peaceful environment in the subregion.
The bill is also in line with the Economic Community of West African States Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
For us, this initiative, together with our country's ratification of the Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials, adopted by the Economic Community of West African States, is a significant contribution to disarmament at our level.
The General Assembly would also encourage the international community to support the implementation of the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
In 2006, ECOWAS had adopted a Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition, and Other Related Materials, which had entered into force in 2009.
That applies to the adoption in June 2006 by the States of the Economic Community of West Africa(ECOWAS) of the Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
It has adopted a Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials and taken practical steps in the fight against gender inequality, youth unemployment, money laundering and terrorism through the creation of dedicated centres across the region.
Encourages the international community to support the implementation of the Economic Community of West African States Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials;
This system would reinforce existing subregional agreements, such as the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials, which has been in force since September 2009and to which Burkina Faso is a signatory.

In that connection, we urge all Member States to be guided by the example provided by the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) when in June this year it adopted the landmark Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
Welcomes the decision by the Government of Côte d'Ivoire to ratify the Economic Community of West African States Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials, and encourages relevant actors to provide technical assistance to the Government towards its implementation;
It encouraged the Government to complete the preparation of reports to treaty bodies, continue its campaign against all forms of discrimination and ratify the Economic Community of West African States Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.

With respect to the region of Africa, UNODC is considering joining forces with the Secretariat of the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) to support implementation of both the Firearms Protocol and the regional ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials.
The Panel notes with interest that on 5 May 2009 the plenary of the lower house of the National Legislature ratified the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition, and Other Related Materials in the subregion.
Recalls that responsibility for controlling the circulation of small arms within the territory of Liberia and between Liberia and neighbouring States rests with the relevant governmental authorities in accordance with the Economic Community of West African States Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Their Ammunition and Other Related Materials of 2006;
