With regard to increasing the representation of troop- and police-contributing country nationals within the civilian component in peacekeeping missions, in paragraphs 155 and 156 of his latest overview report(A/68/731) the Secretary-General indicates that the Secretariat amended the staff selection system to address the spirit and intent of General Assembly resolutions 66/265 and 67/287,in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to intensify his efforts to ensure proper representation of troop-contributing countries in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Field Support.
Mr. van BOVEN urged the Government of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to pursue its efforts to ensure proper representation of the Albanian, Turkish, Roma and other minorities in all sectors of the State administration.
