At the sixty-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly, in 2012,during the Sixth Committee's discussions on the status of the Protocols Additional to the Geneva Conventions relating to the protection of victims of armed conflicts, Switzerland encouraged the States parties to Additional Protocol I that had not yet done so to accept the Commission's competence, recalling that they could signify such acceptance simply by depositing a declaration to that effect with the depositary.
