On 3 March, near government-controlled Kremenivka(80km south-west of Donetsk), the SMM observed 15 towed howitzers(D20, 152 mm).
On 9 April the SMM visited the government-controlled villages of Bugas, Novognativka and Mykolaivka(46km,42km and 41km south-west of Donetsk).
The SMM visited a logistic centre in government-controlled Novotroitske(36km south-west of Donetsk) which consisted of two large military-style tents.
On 5 March, the SMM observed repair work being performed to agas pipeline north of government-controlled Marinka(23km south-west of Donetsk).
At a“DPR” checkpoint near highway H15(“DPR”-controlled, 12km south-west of Donetsk) a“DPR” member stopped and delayed the SMM without explanation for 30 minutes.
Hospital personnel said the man hadreceived his injuries as the result shelling in Oleksandrivka(20km south-west of Donetsk) on 24 August.
At a hospital in“DPR”-controlled Dokuchaievsk(30km south-west of Donetsk) the SMM spoke to a woman(aged 60-65), who doctors said had a bruise on her head.
The SMM also heard 20unidentified explosions to the north-east of its base in Volnovakha(52km south-west of Donetsk).
In government-controlled Berezove(35km south-west of Donetsk), the SMM followed up on reports that two middle-aged women had been injured by an explosive device on the side of the highway near a checkpoint on 15 September.
On 12 June, at 08:15hrs, the SMM observed around 450 civilian vehiclesqueuing to pass through a government-controlled checkpoint near Berezove(32km south-west of Donetsk) from“DPR”- to government-controlled area.
In“DPR”-controlled Dokuchaievsk(30km south-west of Donetsk), at a children's playground- 35m from a residential building, the SMM saw a tree it assessed as having been felled by a powerful impact of an undetermined weapon.
Based on information received from Ukrainian customs officials, the SMM visited a Ukrainian Armed Forces military base inVolnovakha(government-controlled,53km south-west of Donetsk) where it saw a truck briefly from the outside;
At a“DPR” checkpoint(14km south-west of Donetsk), the SMM was delayed for ten minutes when“DPR” checked the trunk of its vehicles and asked the SMM members whether they had any alcohol claiming that it was not allowed to bring alcohol into the“DPR”-controlled area.
An armed“DPR” member wearing military-style trousers and a black t-shirt with“OMON” written on itstopped the SMM at an entry-exit checkpoint in Olenivka(23km south-west of Donetsk) and asked for passports and vehicle registration documents.
Positioned in“DPR”-controlled Oleksandrivka(20km south-west of Donetsk), an“emergency service” member and another unarmed“DPR” member told the SMM that they would undertake the same duties as the previous Russian Federation Armed Forces officers of the JCCC.
The SMM observed six billboards providing information on mines(three on each side of the road), within approximately 2km,between two government-controlled checkpoints near government-controlled Marinka(23km south-west of Donetsk).
According to the Ukrainian andRussian Federation officers in the JCCC in“DPR”-controlled Olenivka(22km south-west of Donetsk) the number of ceasefire violations has increased dramatically within their respective areas of responsibility in recent days.
On 14 January, a police officer at the police station in government-controlled Kurakhove(40km west of Donetsk) told the SMM that a 64-year-old woman had been injured in herchest by shrapnel while at her house in government-controlled Marinka(23km south-west of Donetsk) on 12 January.
While on patrol, the SMM was stopped at aUkrainian Armed Forces checkpoint before Starchenkove(100km south-west of Donetsk) where it was requested to provide the nationality of its patrol members and was allowed to continue some 45 minutes later.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces commander in Mykolaivka subsequently corroborated the information, adding that self-propelled and rocket artillery calibre 122mm(BM-21 Grad type) had impacted around the government-controlled areas of Starohnativka,Novohnativka(41km south-west of Donetsk) and Bohdanivka(42km south of Donetsk). .
In the morning hours, at a checkpoint near“DPR”-controlled Kreminets(19km south-west of Donetsk), armed men did not allow the SMM to proceed further west after the SMM declined to present national passports of its members and vehicle registration documents.
On 5 September, the SMM together with senior representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Russian Federation Armed Forces at the JCCC,and a“DPR” member visited“DPR”-controlled Oleksandrivka(22km south-west of Donetsk), which was reportedly shelled on 4 September, around 16:00hrs.
In government-controlled Prohorivka(55km south-west of Donetsk), following up on information received separately from the head of the village council and residents of Starohnativka about one male civilian killed in overnight shelling, the SMM observed one crater and a piece of shrapnel near the farm compound where according to residents the victim had been hit.
The agenda included discussing an SMM initiative for conducting a JCCC-led investigationof the shelling which occurred on 13 January in government-controlled Volnovakha(35km south-west of Donetsk), resulting in 12 killed and 17 injured passengers in a bus.
On 31 August in“DPR”-controlled Oleksandrivka(20km south-west of Donetsk), the SMM, accompanied by the Russian Federation Armed Forces officer at the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination(JCCC) and a“DPR” member, observed eleven fresh craters in a residential area- in the back yard gardens of houses, behind a nightclub, near a pharmacy and on an asphalt road.
On 22 July, the SMM visited a hospital in government-controlled Kurakhove(40km west of Donetsk) to follow up on a report from a Ukrainian officer of the JCCC that five civilianshad been injured by shelling on 21 July in government-controlled Marinka(23km south-west of Donetsk).
Following days of intensive negotiations in government-controlled Krasnohorivka(21km-west of Donetsk) and in Petrovskyi district(“DPR”-controlled,23 south-west of Donetsk) the SMM managed to facilitate a ceasefire to support repair works on a power line damaged by shelling in January.
In all three areas, the SMM noted a relatively calm situation, but faced a restriction of its freedom of movement inside the Stanytsia Luhanska disengagement area and could not access the actual disengagement areas between Petrivske and Bohdanivka(government-controlled,41km south-west of Donetsk) and between Zolote and Pervomaisk(“LPR”-controlled, 58km north-west of Luhansk).*.
They also stated that they were operating three internally displaced person(IDP) assembly points in Mariupol,Volnovakha(45 km south-west of Donetsk) and Krasnoarmiisk(60 km north-west of Donetsk), where IDPs were received for a maximum of three days, prior to their onward travel to other destinations.
On 10 January 179 people of Polish descent reportedly travelled to government-controlled Sievierodonetsk(95km north-west of Luhansk)from Luhansk and from Donetsk to government-controlled Volnovakha(47km south-west of Donetsk), where they were met by representativesof the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
