III. Implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy.

To strengthen the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy, entities of the United Nations system have put a stronger emphasis on small island developing States in their work.

An effective monitoring mechanism for the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy needs to be established, building as appropriate on existing national and regional mechanisms, to ensure adequate and timely analysis of the adequacy and effectiveness of such implementation. .
Efforts for the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy have been made at the national level by Member States from along the small island developing States, through the development of national sustainable development plans and strategies and the strengthening of institutions to address priority areas.

Acknowledge that significant gaps remain in the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation, and call for these to be addressed through the full and effective implementation of the Samoa Pathway; the post-2015 development agenda must also take the remaining gaps into account;
Reaffirming that the Commission on Sustainable Developmentis the primary intergovernmental forum for monitoring the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy.

Emphasizing the importance of the effective implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy for Further Implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States.
It can be used to measure progress in terms of economic, environmental and social vulnerability,as well as to monitor the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy.

Following the adoption of resolution 65/2, an interactive consultative process was undertaken within the United Nationssystem to consider concrete strategies to enhance the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy.

(b) Advocating and mobilizing international support at the global level by identifying sources of financing and garnering donor support for the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy, including support for adaptation to climate change.
It was recommended that the regional coordinating mechanism established at the subregional headquarters of ECLAC in Trinidad and Tobago to facilitate the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action and the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation should become operational in order to complement the policy coordination efforts of the United Nations system in the area of sustainable development.
