I just want to mention to you, Madam President, that I will be writing to youasking for an interpretation from the Committee on the Rules of Procedure, the Verification of Credentials and Immunities of this matter.
The procedure for verification of credentials applies to the 18 Members designated by Bulgaria and the 35 Members designated by Romania.
Where the appointment of a Member is due to the withdrawal of candidates from thesame list, the committee responsible for the verification of credentials shall ensure that such withdrawals have taken place in accordance with the spirit and the letter of the Act of. .

President.- I informed the House that at itsmeeting of 15 January 1985 the Committee on the Verification of Credentials verified, in accordance with Rule 6(2)of the Rules of Procedure, the credentials of Mr Iversen, Mr Hitzigrath and Mr Lagakos.
But I would point out that under Rule 132, paragraph 1, and Annex VI, section XVI, paragraph 1, sub a of the Rules of Procedure,the Committee on the Rules of Procedure, Verification of Credentials and Immunities ought to have been consulted on the new responsibilities of the committees.
The Committee on the Rules of Procedure, the Verification of Credentials and Immunities has carried out its work with this end in view and on the basis of the guidelines that were presented to us. I think I can safely say that it has respected the guidelines drawn up by the working party and even improved their wording, since some of them were rather obscure in places, not to say contradictory.

If you are not prepared to do that,will you refer the matter to the Committee on the Rules of Procedure, the Verification of Credentials and Immunities because, as a member of that committee, you are very well aware that it was the clear intention of the committee that'available to the public' should mean in each Member State?
