In its decisions POPRC-7/2 and POPRC-7/3, the Committee decided that the proposals on chlorinated naphthalenes and hexachlorobutadiene met the screening criteria set outin Annex D to the Convention and established ad hoc working groups to review the proposals further and develop draft risk profiles in accordance with Annex E to the Convention.
The Committee agreed to establish a drafting group to revise the draft risk profiles on alpha and beta hexachlorcyclohexane for consideration by the Committee and to prepare draft decisions on alpha and beta hexachlorcyclohexane for consideration by the Committee.
In adopting its decisions on chemicals, the Committee decided, in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 8 of the Convention and paragraph 29 of decisionSC-1/7 of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention, to establish intersessional ad hoc working groups to review the proposals further and to prepare draft risk profiles in accordance with Annex E to the Convention.
One member pointed out that the quality of information contained in draft risk management evaluations or draft risk profiles to be considered at the Committee's meetings could be improved, for example by parties, observers and intersessional working group members providing more comments and relevant information during intersessional periods.
