Encourages all States signatories to the Nairobi Declaration on the Problem of the Proliferation of Illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons to implement quickly the measures required by the Coordinated Agenda for Action as an important means in support of the arms embargo on Somalia;
Although Somalia is only an observer, there is a need for the Somali authorities as well as the front-line andneighbouring States to implement measures in accordance with the Nairobi Declaration on the Problem of the Proliferation of Illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons and the Coordinated Agenda for Action.
Our delegation believes that the international community should focus its efforts on the very real problem of the proliferation of known types of weapons of mass destruction(WMDs) both by States that wilfully violate their commitments with respect to existing treaties and by terrorists.
