Member States have already made commitments to protect children from all forms of violence.

Regionally, significant political commitments to protect children from violence had been undertaken, reaffirming the joint resolve of Member States and regional organizations to promote change.
Somalia is in the process of ratifying CRC and its Optional Protocol andendorses the Paris Commitments to Protect Children from Unlawful Recruitment or Use by Armed Forces or Armed Groups.
Eritrea had endorsed the Paris Commitments to protect children unlawfully recruited or used by armed forces or armed groups and had joined other States to advance that agenda.
Many Governments have also agreed on principles to be followed when working to prevent the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict or to ensure their release and reintegration,as for example reflected in the Paris Commitments to Protect Children Unlawfully Recruited or Used by Armed Forces or Armed Groups, which have been adopted by 59 countries.
Finland acknowledged the commitments to protect children and women from violence, including the Domestic Violence Act in 2007 and the establishment of the Domestic Violence Victim Support unit to investigate complaints of domestic violence and child abuse.
I welcome the recently signed Protocol of Agreement on Protecting Children Victims of Armed Conflict and their Sustainable Reintegration between the Government of Chad and UNICEF,in line with the Paris Commitments to Protect Children from Unlawful Recruitment and Use by Armed Forces and Armed Groups and Paris Principles: Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups.
Lastly, the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups, endorsed by 75 countries, would now be the subject of a Follow-up Forum, whose first meeting had been held in September 2008 in New York.
The Declaration further commits the signatories to adhere to international standards for the protection of children, including the two Optional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups and the Paris Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups.
Participants also discussed the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups and the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups(Paris Principles), on the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of children associated with armed groups.
Taking note of the more recent international developments in relation to the protection of children, in particular the two Optional Protocols to the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child(CRC), Security Council resolutions 1612, 1674, and 1325,the Paris Commitments to Protect Children from Unlawful Recruitment or Use by Armed Forces or Armed Groups and the United Nations Secretary-General's Study on Violence against Children. .
She welcomes the call upon States to endorse the Paris Commitments to protect children from recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups, to take special measures to protect children in contact with the law, and to take all feasible measures to ensure the release and reintegration of children used in armed conflicts and to implement effective measures for their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Recalling that the participants in the conference entitled"Free children from war", held in Paris on 5 and6 February 2007 committed themselves to making every effort to uphold and apply the Paris Principles and Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups wherever possible in their political, diplomatic, humanitarian, technical-assistance and funding roles, consistent with their international obligations;
Urging it to meet, without further delay, its commitments to adopt an action plan to end the recruitment and use of children by FARDC, including newly integrated elements, taking into account the Government's commitment to implement the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups(the Paris Principles)and the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups(the Paris Commitments), and to implement them without delay;
Additionally, under the guidance of UNICEF and the Government of France,95 Member States have to date endorsed the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups and the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups, which were launched in February 2007.
