In my role as US Special Representative for the Arctic,I lead US Arctic diplomacy efforts for the State Department and serve as Secretary of State John Kerry's coordinator for the US Arctic Council chairmanship.
The Council also reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and in peacebuilding, and reiterates its call to increase the equal participation, representation andfull involvement of women in preventive diplomacy efforts in line with resolutions 1325(2000), 1820(2008), 1888(2009) and 1889(2009) and the statements by its President of 13 and 26 October 2010.
Among those well placed to contribute to such good offices and public diplomacy efforts are regional and subregional mechanisms, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Emergency Relief Coordinator, the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, other special advisers, special representatives and envoys of the Secretary-General, and ranking officials of the United Nations, its development agencies and the Bretton Woods institutions.
The Council also reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and in peacebuilding, and reiterates its call to increase the equal participation, representation andfull involvement of women in preventive diplomacy efforts in line with resolutions 1325(2000), 1820(2008), 1888(2009), 1889(2009), and the statements of its President S/PRST/2010/20 and S/PRST/2010/22.
Accordingly, the Council acknowledges the potential benefits andefficiencies that could be achieved through an integrated approach to preventive diplomacy efforts similar to the approach to peacekeeping and peacebuilding methods, which underscores the interrelationship between political, security, development, human rights and rule of law activities.
The Security Council reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and in peacebuilding, and reiterates its call to increase the equal participation, representation andfull involvement of women in preventive diplomacy efforts and all related decision-making processes with regard to conflict resolution and peacebuilding in line with resolutions 1325(2000), 1820(2008), 1888(2009), and 1889 2009.
The Council reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflict and in peacebuilding and reiterates its call to increase the equal participation and representation andfull involvement of women in preventive diplomacy efforts and all related decision-making processes with regard to conflict resolution and peacebuilding in line with its resolutions 1325(2000), 1820(2008), 1888(2009), 1889(2009) and 1960 2010.
Our diplomacy effort, our peaceful pressure campaign certainly continues.
The Council also calls for an improved public diplomacy effort by the United Nations, the African Union and the Governments of the Sudan and Chad in explaining the benefits of the Darfur Peace Agreement to the population in Darfur;
