In paragraph 30 of resolution 1822(2008)the Security Council repeats an invitation first extended in paragraph 11 of resolution 1526(2004) for States to address the Committee for in-depth discussion of relevant issues; so far 10 States have done so, the most recent, in February 2009, being Algeria, which met the Committee to describe what it had done to combat terrorism and to discuss the current level of threat posed by Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb.

We also believe it important to consolidate the Council's practice of holding consultations with troop-contributing countries ahead of discussions of relevant issues in the Council, as well as to include regular self-assessment and reviews of the implementation of the Council's decisions.
