Optimal utilization of the existing potentialities in the ECO region in various fields and areas will indeed be much facilitated and rendered more efficient and effective through the assistance of the United Nations system,in particular its specialized agencies involved in the field of operational activities.
In paragraph 63 of the same resolution, the General Assembly decided, as an integral part of the next triennial policy review of operational activities, to conduct an evaluation of the impact of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework in the field of operational activities, and requested the Secretary-General to report, through the Council at its substantive session of 2001, on the results of such an evaluation, including lessons learned and recommendations made, for consideration by the Assembly at its fifty-sixth session.
As one of the countries implementing a"One United Nations" pilot programme,we hope to continue to receive support from the Secretariat and Member States to ensure success in one of the most courageous experiments in the field of operational activities at the country level.

The 2001 review will provide an opportunity to review these benefits,especially through the forthcoming impact evaluation of the UNDAF in the field of operational activities, which is expected to be an integral part of that review.
Along these lines, I feel it is imperative to refer again to the issue of the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic,social and related fields- in particular the relevant General Assembly resolutions bearing particularly on the vital field of operational activities for development, and the General Assembly's important coordinating role.
