In the light of the rapidly changing nature of disarmament and international security in the immediate post-cold war era, General Assembly resolution 48/68 of 16 December 1993 once again established a group of governmental experts toexamine"the lessons of recent United Nations verification experience and other relevant international developments and to explore the further development of guidelines and principles for the involvement of the United Nations in verification.
