Gathered together to share and discuss our efforts, and share our experiences and challenges in dealing with terrorism at the Sub-Regional Workshop held in Gaborone, Botswana, on 29 and 30 November 2007, on the preparation of responses to the Security Council Committees dealing with counter-terrorism("the Committees");
The discussion on the paper covered general issues, such as different forms of autonomy and approaches to legislation and practice in particular countries, andaddressed problems raised during regional seminars held in Gaborone, La Ceiba, and more recently Chiang Mai.
Examples of partnerships andcollaborations also include the fourth International Roundtable on China-Africa Health Cooperation, held in Gaborone in May 2013, followed by the convening of the Ministerial Forum on China-Africa Health Development in Beijing in August 2013.

Appreciating in this regard the decision taken by the plenary meeting of the Kimberley Process, held in Gaborone from 6 to 9 November 2006, based on calls from participants, civil society and the World Diamond Council urging stronger internal control standards for participants, together with measures offering clearer guidance on implementing effective controls from mine to export, stronger government oversight of the diamond industry, and spot checks of industry compliance.

Following a proposal discussed atthe Seventh United Nations International Training Course on Remote Sensing Education for Educators(1997), an evaluation workshop is to be held in Gaborone from 18 to 21 October 1998 with the primary aim of evaluating the impact of the United Nations/Government of Sweden series of training courses on remote sensing education for educators,held annually in Sweden since 1990(except in 1991), and also of determining the future direction of the course.
We also welcome the conclusions of a series of conferences on conflict prevention and peace-keeping in Africa sponsored by the British Government,the latest of which was held in Gaborone, the capital of my country, on 7 and 8 August 1995.
