The 2012- 2013 joint work programme(JWP) that was approved by COP 10 focuses on four major aspects of joint work between the GM and the secretariat:support to regional coordination, action programme alignment, the reporting and review process, and the implementation of the common fundraising strategy.

By the same decision it also requested the Executive Director to elaborate a process for the implementation of the plan andto give immediate priority to proposed reforms necessary for programme alignment, cohesion effectiveness and accountability, consistent with the wider process of the United Nations System-wide reform.
As reflected in table 4, $45 million is allocated for programme activities, $5.5 million for programme support and $19.7 million for executive direction and management activities, which includes a special allocation of $3.9 million to cater for the budgetary implications arising from the review of the organization's structure,whose purpose is to ensure programme alignment and provide a framework for the implementation of the organization's mandates.
