Developing a global, harmonised definition of cities.
Without a harmonised definition of serious injuries the magnitude and true nature of the problem of serious injuries cannot be fully understood.
In accordance with the requirements set out in this Directive, a harmonised definition needs to be introduced.

The‘Directive on the fight against fraud to the Union's financial interests by means of criminal law'(the‘PIF Directive')6 provides for harmonised definition of offences affecting the EU's financial interests as well as penalties and statute of limitations for such cases.

To address these divergences, the AD proposes a harmonised definition of pre-marketing and conditions under which an EU AIFM can engage in these activities.

The Commission recognises that one of the main issues that affected the analysis of participation patterns is“the absence of a harmonised definition, across sectors, of people with fewer opportunities and from disadvantaged backgrounds” and that“the quality of the data on participation of disadvantaged groups is unclear due to various definitions and practices”35.

Such freedom should not, however, run counter to the harmonised definition of the notion of‘trade mark' and to the criteria governing the distinctive character of a mark, both flowing from Articles 2 and 3(1) of Directive 2008/95, which could deprive the directive of its effectiveness and be detrimental to the proper functioning of the system of trade mark registration.

Considers that the Commission should investigate the possibility of establishing a harmonised definition of the relations between an undertaking designated the‘parent company' and all undertakings in a relationship of dependency with respect to that company, whether those undertakings are subsidiaries, suppliers or sub-contractors, in order to establish the legal liability of each of them;
