Botswana welcomes the report of the Secretary General on progress in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS(A/57/227 and Corr.1).
Implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS, which was adopted at that meeting as resolution S-26/2, is the common concern and responsibility of all Member States.
Follow-up to the outcome of the twenty-sixth special session: implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS: draft decision(A/61/L.40)[46].
In conclusion, allow me to thank the United Nations for conducting this high-level plenary meeting devoted to the follow-up to the outcome of the twenty-sixth special session and implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Outlule(Botswana): The delegation of Botswana welcomes the deliberations of the General Assembly on the agenda item entitled"Follow-up to the outcome of the twenty-sixth special session: implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS".
Invites States whenpreparing their progress reports to the General Assembly on the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS to include information on human rights in the context of HIV/AIDS;
In this context, the Bahamas looks forward to the high-level five-year review of the progress made in implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS, scheduled to take place in June 2006.
During the recent high-level meetings devoted to the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS, numerous States, including South Africa, reported significant examples of real implementation of the targets agreed to in the outcome document.
Mrs. Kondolo(Zambia): My delegation is pleased to participate in this important debate on agenda item 41,entitled" Implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS".
Such meetings allow us to assess on a regular basis the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment adopted by the Assembly in June 2001 and to pinpoint the measures needed to give a new impetus to our common action against the scourge of HIV/AIDS.
To conclude, allow me to state that,although much has been achieved in Mauritius regarding the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment, we have yet to face the most difficult challenges.
It will includeextensive data on HIV/AIDS to contribute to monitoring the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Millennium Development Goals and to targeting programme efforts at the country level.
We also thank the Secretary-General for his comprehensive report on the progress made in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/ AIDS(A/64/735).
