The present report reviews the work of the subprogrammes of the medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001, global development trends, issues and policies, and global approaches to social andmicroeconomic issues and policies, and the corresponding subprogrammes in the regional commissions.

The Chairman drew the Committee's attention to the CPC report, section C.3, entitled"Triennial review of the implementation of the in-depth evaluation of global development trends, issues and policies, global approaches to social andmicroeconomic issues and policies, and the corresponding subprogrammes in the regional commissions" A/58/16, paragraphs 549-551.
At its forty-third session, the Committee will undertake a triennial review of the implementation of the recommendations made by the Committee at its fortieth session on the evaluation of global development trends, issues and policies, global approaches to social andmicroeconomic issues and policies, and the corresponding subprogrammes in the regional commissions, and on the evaluation of the advancement of women.
At its thirty-seventh session, the Committee for Programme and Coordination recommended that an in- depth evaluation of global development trends, issues and policies, and global approaches to social and microeconomic issues and policies(subprogrammes 7.3 and7.4 of the medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001), and the corresponding subprogrammes in the regional commissions, be prepared for consideration by the Committee in 2000 A/52/16, para. 306.
The approved staffing table for the biennium 2010-2011 under the corresponding subprogramme 2, Supporting human rights treaty bodies implemented by the Human Rights Treaties Division, consists of 37 professional and above and 17 GS(OL) posts supplemented by 22 professional and above and 5 GS(OL) posts provided from extrabudgetary resources.
