Bearing in mind the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.
Recalling paragraph 22 of the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World, adopted by the Twelfth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, in which Member States were encouraged to consider developing strategies or policies to combat illicit financial flows.
The Twelfth Congress adopted the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.
Recalling further the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World, adopted by the Twelfth Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Recalling further its resolution 63/193 of 18 December 2008, in which it decided that the main theme of the Twelfth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice should be"Comprehensivestrategies for global challenges: crime prevention and criminal justice systems and their development in a changing world.
The debate during the morning would focus on taking stock of lessons learned and challenges faced, and the debate during the afternoon would cover the way forward and further action to address challenges faced, bearing in mind paragraph 21 of the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.
Pursuant to paragraph 9 of General Assembly resolution 65/230, the open-ended intergovernmental expert group established by the Commission in line with paragraph 42 of the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World(General Assembly resolution 65/230, annex) held its meeting in Vienna from 17 to 21 January 2011.
All topics would be discussed at both sessions, with the debate during the morning focusing on taking stock of lessons learned and challenges faced, and the debate during the afternoon focusing on the way forward and further action to address challenges faced, bearing in mind paragraph 21 of the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.

Reiterates its invitation to Governments to take into consideration the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.
Recalling further its resolution 65/230 of 21 December 2010, in which it endorsed the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World.
The Meeting also recalled that long-term sustainable economic and social development and the establishment of a functioning, efficient, effective and humane criminal justice system had a positive influence on each other, as stated in the Salvador Declaration on Comprehensive Strategies for Global Challenges: Crime Prevention andCriminal Justice Systems and Their Development in a Changing World, which was adopted by the Twelfth Congress.
