In that connection, the Group reaffirmed that the Fifth Committee was the appropriate Main Committee of the General Assembly entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters, including those related to peacekeeping operations.
In resolution 45/248, part B VI, the General Assembly had, inter alia, expressed its concern at the tendency of its substantive Committees and other intergovernmental bodies to involve themselves in administrative and budgetary matters, andreaffirmed that the Fifth Committee was the appropriate Main Committee entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters.
In that connection, the Group reaffirmed that the Fifth Committee was the appropriate Main Committee of the General Assembly entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters, including those related to peacekeeping operations.
He further recalled that the agenda item had been allocated to the Fifth and Sixth Committees pursuant to resolution 62/228, paragraph 68 of which invited the Sixth Committee to"consider the legal aspects of the reports to besubmitted by the Secretary-General, without prejudice to the role of the Fifth Committee as the Main Committee entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters.
The General Assembly further reaffirmed that the Fifth Committee is the appropriate Main Committee entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters.
In paragraph 68 of its resolution 62/228 of 22 December 2007, the General Assembly invited the Sixth Committee to consider the legal aspects of the reports to be submitted by the Secretary-General,without prejudice to the role of the Fifth Committee as the Main Committee entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters.
The same resolution reaffirms that the Fifth Committee is the Main Committee of the General Assembly entrusted with responsibilities for administrative and budgetary matters.
