This annex contains possible elements on issues related to Articles 5, 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol that could be incorporated in a draft decision or draft decisions by the Conference of the Parties(COP) at its sixth session and in a draft decision or draft decisions to be recommended to the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol(COP/MOP) for adoption at its first session.

In relation to sub-item(i), the outcome of the inter-sessional workshop on issues related to Articles 5, 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol, to be held in Bonn, from 4 to 6 October 2001, will be made available to the Conference for its consideration.
Their adoption could also expedite the implementation of the work programme on methodological issues related to Articles 5, 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol, as some of the elements covered in that work programme would build on the revised guidelines.
It also requested the secretariat to develop plans for a second workshop on issues related to Articles 5, 7 and 8, subject to the availability of funds, to be held prior to its thirteenth session, pending the outcome of the first workshop and a decision on the date of the sixth session of the COP.

At the 7th meeting, on 13 November, the Chairman noted that at its 3rd meeting,on 12 September, the SBI had agreed to consider issues related to Articles 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol at the second part of its thirteenth session after the SBSTA had arrived at conclusions on the guidelines on those articles, with the aim of submitting those guidelines for adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its sixth session FCCC/SBI/2000/10, para. 64.
