Please see the presentation“Why and How to Improve Data Systems” Mr. Piotr Juchno, Statistical Officer, EUROSTAT,provided an overview the EU framework of migration data management, highlighting that the agency does not have access to the source data and that data collections are oriented at outputs.
During the Panel meeting on Migration Data Management and Migration Trends last year(Budapest, 5-6 March, 2015) various migration data issues were discussed between the EU Member States, Eastern Partnership countries, academia, civil society and international organizations.
Close to 60 experts and officials from Eastern Partnership countries, EU Member States, academia, civil society and international organizations came together in Budapest to exchange andreview their practices and approaches to migration data management, update each other on methodologies for data analysis and discuss how to establish the right balance between data protection principles and efficient usage of data. .

Collection and Analysis of Migration Data The lack of reliable migration data is one of the principal obstacles to effective migration management, policy and co-operation.
Presentations delivered by the Data Management Department staff gave the participants an opportunity to learn about procedures relating to the migration and asylum data management, such as supplying of data, processing and filtering, access to database and data protection.
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of(i). the national approaches to migration data collection, processing and management as well as challenges faced therein,(ii). methodologies for data analysis and objectives pursued and(iii). the national mechanisms ensuring the protection of migration and asylum data. .
Georgia- quicker, more effective and secure migration management process- enhanced migration related case management- better analysis of migration data and monitoring of migration flows and stocks- observation of personal data protection requirements- increased security risks for the technology and hence, for the data security.
The UNFPA country office in Nicaragua has supported the training of officials on migration management and the management of migration data flows and has launched an information campaign on the subject of international migration. .
One Administrative Assistant(General Service(Other level)) supports the P-2 Reports Officer in the maintenance of the database,in particular in the context of the introduction of the new data management tracking system and the subsequent migration of data from the old system to the new one.
