The discussion of the Working Group was based on the report of the Secretary-General on financial resources andmechanisms for sustainable development: overview of current issues and developments(E/CN.17/1995/8) and background documents, including the reportof the second Expert Group Meeting on Financial Issues of Agenda 21 held in Glen Cove, New York(15-17 February 1995), and the Chairman's report of the Workshop on Economic Instruments for Sustainable Development held in Pruhonice, Czech Republic 12-14 January 1995.
The Commission recognizes that many of the sources of finance, economic instruments and innovative mechanisms considered in the report of the Secretary-General on financial resources andmechanisms for sustainable development: overview of current issues and developments(E/CN.17/1995/8) are also applicable to financing the transfer of technology and biotechnology sectors.
