The Voluntary IMO Member Audit Scheme was highlighted by several delegations as effective in objectively assessing the implementation of mandatory IMO instruments and promoting the implementation of important instruments on maritime security and safety.
For example, IMO was recently requested to considerexpanding the scope of its Voluntary Member State Audit Scheme to include maritime security-related matters and other functions not presently covered(IMO Assembly resolution A.975(24)).
