Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade;
This session of the Disarmament Commission will also discuss the elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade.

Notwithstanding the absence of a consensus on elements of a draft declaration for the fourth disarmament decade, we look forward to a brighter, effective and fruitful session in 2012.
At its 9th meeting, on 14 April,the Working Group considered and adopted by consensus its report on the agenda item entitled"Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade.
Concerning Working Group II on"Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade", once again we hoped to conclude our work with agreed and substantive elements. .
At the previous session of the Disarmament Commission, various parties undertook helpful discussions on the elements of a draft declaration of the fourth disarmament decade and reached substantial common understanding.
Working Group II, on"Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade", held substantive discussions on the revised draft last year, although consensus again eluded us.
In item 6, the point is made fairly explicitly that this item will be taken up after the elements of a draft declaration for the 2010's as the fourth disarmament decade have been prepared and concluded.
On agenda item 5,"Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade", the Group continued work on the second revision of the non-paper which the Chairman circulated last year.
During the previous session of the Disarmament Commission, we held valuable discussions on the elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade, and achieved much common understanding.

Mr. Paschalis(South Africa),Chairperson of Working Group II: The mandate of Working Group II was to deal with agenda item 5, entitled"Elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade.
We believe that the elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade must reflect the fact that nuclear disarmament is a clear priority in balanced, non-discriminatory international disarmament, arms limitation and non-proliferation efforts.
Practical confidence-building measures in the field of conventional weapons this item will be taken up after the elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade have been prepared, preferably in 2010 and in any case no later than 2011.
While it is important that we maintain the momentum in Working Group I, on nuclear disarmament andnon-proliferation, we should redouble our efforts to reach consensus this year with regard to Working Group II, on elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade.
In that context, we note that,although the Disarmament Commission could not agree on the elements of a draft declaration of the 2010s as the fourth disarmament decade, at least we agreed on the agenda for the Commission's three-year cycle.
