وما ظلمناهم ولكن كانوا هم الظالمين

Then it will be said to them who wronged themselves:" Taste you the everlasting torment! Are you recompensed( aught) save what you used to earn?".
ثم قيل للذين ظلموا ذوقوا عذاب الخلد» أي الذي تخلدون فيه« هل» ما« تجزون إلا» جزاء« بما كنتم تكسبون

Evil is the example of those who belied Our verses; they wronged themselves.
ساء» بئس« مثلا القوم» أي مثل القوم« الذين كذَّبوا بآياتنا وأنفسهم كانوا يظلمون» بالتكذيب

And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them.
وَسَكَنْتُمْ فِي مَسَاكِنِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ الْأَمْثَالَ

And We blessed him and Isaac, and from their offspring are some gooddoers, and others who clearly wronged themselves.
وباركنا عليه» بكثير ذريته« وعلى إسحاق» ولده بجعلنا أكثر الأنبياء من نسله« ومن ذريتهما محسن» مؤمن« وظالم لنفسه» كافر« مبين» بيَّن الكفر

Then it will be said to them who wronged themselves:" Taste you the everlasting torment! Are you recompensed( aught) save what you used to earn?".
ثم قيل للذين ظلموا أنفسهم بكفرهم بالله: تجرَّعوا عذاب الله الدائم لكم أبدًا، فهل تُعاقَبون إلا بما كنتم تعملون في حياتكم من معاصي الله

Some of them were struck by a violent sand-storm, some by a blast of sound, others were swallowed up by the earth, and some were drowned( in the sea). God did not do injustice to them, but they had wronged themselves.
فكلا» من المذكورين« أخذنا بذنبه فمنهم من أرسلنا عليه حاصبا» ريحاً عاصفة فيها حصباء كقوم لوط« ومنهم من أخذته الصيحة» كثمود« ومنهم من خسفنا به الأرض» كقارون« ومنهم من أغرقنا» كقوم نوح وفرعون وقومه« وما كان الله ليظلمهم» فيعذبهم بغير ذنب« ولكن كانوا أنفسهم يظلمون» بارتكاب الذنب

Thereafter, it will be said unto those who wronged themselves: taste the torment everlasting: ye are requited not save for that which ye have been earning.
ثم قيل للذين ظلموا أنفسهم بكفرهم بالله: تجرَّعوا عذاب الله الدائم لكم أبدًا، فهل تُعاقَبون إلا بما كنتم تعملون في حياتكم من معاصي الله

All the messengers We sent were meant to be obeyed by God 's leave. If they had come to you and sought forgiveness from God whenever they wronged themselves, and the Messenger had prayed for forgiveness for them, they would have found that God is ever-forgiving and merciful.
وما بعَثْنَا من رسول من رسلنا، إلا ليستجاب له، بأمر الله تعالى وقضائه. ولو أن هؤلاء الذين ظلموا أنفسهم باقتراف السيئات، جاؤوك-أيها الرسول- في حياتك تائبين سائلين الله أن يغفر لهم ذنوبهم، واستغفرت لهم، لوجدوا الله توابًا رحيمًا

And We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves; their gods availed them not that they called upon, apart from God, anything, when the command of thy Lord came; and they increased them not, save in destruction.
وما كان إهلاكهم بغير سبب وذنب يستحقونه، ولكن ظلموا أنفسهم بشركهم وإفسادهم في الأرض، فما نفعتهم آلهتهم التي كانوا يدعُونها ويطلبون منها أن تدفع عنهم الضر لـمَّا جاء أمر ربك بعذابهم، وما زادتهم آلهتهم غير تدمير وإهلاك وخسران

( And tell them that) We never sent a Messenger but that he should be obeyed by the leave of Allah. If whenever they wronged themselves they had come to you praying to Allah for forgiveness, and had the Messenger prayed for their forgiveness, they would indeed have found Allah All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.
وما أرسلنا من رسول إلا ليُطاع» فيما يأمر به ويحكم« بإذن الله» بأمره لا ليعصى ويخالف« ولو أنهم إذ ظلموا أنفسهم» بتحاكمهم إلى الطاغوت« جاءُوك» تائبين« فاستغفروا الله واستغفر لهم الرسول» فيه التفات عن الخطاب تفخيما لشأنه« لوجدوا الله توَابا» عليهم« رحيما» بهم

And you dwelt in the houses of those who had wronged themselves and it became very clear to you how We had dealt with them, and We illustrated several examples for you.”.
وسكنتم» فيها« في مساكن الذين ظلموا أنفسهم» بالكفر من الأمم السابقة« وتبين لكم كيف فعلنا بهم» من العقوبة فلم تنزجروا« وضربنا» بينا« لكم الأمثال» في القرآن فلم تعتبروا

You lived in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We dealt with them, and how We struck parables for you.
وحللتم في مساكن الكافرين السابقين الذين ظلموا أنفسهم كقوم هود وصالح، وعلمتم-بما رأيتم وأُخبرتم- ما أنزلناه بهم من الهلاك، وضربنا لكم الأمثال في القرآن، فلم تعتبروا

You lived in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We dealt with them, and how We struck parables for you.
وسكنتم» فيها« في مساكن الذين ظلموا أنفسهم» بالكفر من الأمم السابقة« وتبين لكم كيف فعلنا بهم» من العقوبة فلم تنزجروا« وضربنا» بينا« لكم الأمثال» في القرآن فلم تعتبروا

And you inhabited the homes of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We cited for you the examples.

وحللتم في مساكن الكافرين السابقين الذين ظلموا أنفسهم كقوم هود وصالح، وعلمتم-بما رأيتم وأُخبرتم- ما أنزلناه بهم من الهلاك، وضربنا لكم الأمثال في القرآن، فلم تعتبروا

And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you[ many] examples.".
وسكنتم» فيها« في مساكن الذين ظلموا أنفسهم» بالكفر من الأمم السابقة« وتبين لكم كيف فعلنا بهم» من العقوبة فلم تنزجروا« وضربنا» بينا« لكم الأمثال» في القرآن فلم تعتبروا

And ye dwell in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves and it had become manifest unto you in what wise We had dealt with them, and We had propounded for you similitudes.
وحللتم في مساكن الكافرين السابقين الذين ظلموا أنفسهم كقوم هود وصالح، وعلمتم-بما رأيتم وأُخبرتم- ما أنزلناه بهم من الهلاك، وضربنا لكم الأمثال في القرآن، فلم تعتبروا

And those, who, when they have done an ill-deed or wronged themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness of their sins- and who forgiveth sins save Allah! Is--and persist not in that which they have done, while they know.
والذين إذا فعلوا فاحشة» ذنبا قبيحا كالزنا« أو ظلموا أنفسهم» بدونه كالقُبلة« ذكروا الله» أي وعيده« فاستغفروا لذنوبهم ومن» أي لا« يغفر الذنوب إلا الله ولم يصروا» يداوموا« على ما فعلوا» بل أقلعوا عنه« وهم يعلمون» أن الذي أتوه معصية

And We did not oppress them at all, but it is they who wronged themselves- therefore their deities, whom they worshipped other than Allah, did not in the least benefit them when your Lord s command came;' and due to them, they increased nothing but ruin.
وما كان إهلاكهم بغير سبب وذنب يستحقونه، ولكن ظلموا أنفسهم بشركهم وإفسادهم في الأرض، فما نفعتهم آلهتهم التي كانوا يدعُونها ويطلبون منها أن تدفع عنهم الضر لـمَّا جاء أمر ربك بعذابهم، وما زادتهم آلهتهم غير تدمير وإهلاك وخسران

We sent not ever any Messenger, but that he should he obeyed, by the leave of God. If; when they wronged themselves, they had come to thee, and prayed forgiveness of God, and the Messenger had prayed forgiveness for them, they would have found God turns, All-compassionate.
وما بعَثْنَا من رسول من رسلنا، إلا ليستجاب له، بأمر الله تعالى وقضائه. ولو أن هؤلاء الذين ظلموا أنفسهم باقتراف السيئات، جاؤوك-أيها الرسول- في حياتك تائبين سائلين الله أن يغفر لهم ذنوبهم، واستغفرت لهم، لوجدوا الله توابًا رحيمًا

We did not send a Messenger except that he should be obeyed, by the permission of Allah. If, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you and asked Allah for forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked for forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah the Turner, the Most Merciful.
وما بعَثْنَا من رسول من رسلنا، إلا ليستجاب له، بأمر الله تعالى وقضائه. ولو أن هؤلاء الذين ظلموا أنفسهم باقتراف السيئات، جاؤوك-أيها الرسول- في حياتك تائبين سائلين الله أن يغفر لهم ذنوبهم، واستغفرت لهم، لوجدوا الله توابًا رحيمًا

God does not do the least bit of injustice to anyone but people wrong themselves.
إن الله لا يظلم الناس شيئا ولكن الناس أنفسهم يظلمون

Surely, God does not wrong people at all, but people wrong themselves.
إن الله لا يظلم الناس شيئا ولكن الناس أنفسهم يظلمون

Verily Allah wrongeth not mankind in aught but mankind wrong themselves.
إن الله لا يظلم الناس شيئا ولكن الناس أنفسهم يظلمون
