They said: ye are but human beings like ourselves; the Compassionate hath not sent down aught; ye are only lying.
তারা বলেছিল--'' তোমরা তো আমাদের ন্যায় মানুষ ছাড়া আর কিছু নও, আর পরম করুণাময় কোনো কিছুই অবতারণ করেন নি, তোমরা তো কেবল মিথ্যা কথা বলছ।''।

আর তাদের কাছে তাদের প ্ রভুর কাছ থেকে কোনো নতুন স ্ মারক আসে না যা তারা শোনে যখন তারা খেলতে থাকে,--।

তিনি বললেন--'' বেশ, তুমি যদি আমার অনুসরণ করতে চাও তা' হলে তুমি আমাকে কোনো বিষয়ে প্রশ্ন করতে পারবে না যে পর্যন্ত না আমি সে বিষয়ে মন্তব্য তোমার কাছে প্রকাশ করি।''।

তারা আর কিছুই বলেনি- শুধু বলেছে, হে আমাদের পালনকর ্ তা! মোচন করে দাও আমাদের পাপ এবং যা কিছু বাড়াবাড়ি হয়ে গেছে আমাদের কাজে। আর আমাদিগকে দৃঢ় রাখ এবং কাফেরদের উপর আমাদিগকে সাহায ্ য কর।

Allah decreeth with truth, while those whom they call upon beside Him cannot decree aught; verily Allah! He is the Hearer, the Beholder!
আল ্ লাহ ফয়সালা করেন সঠিকভাবে, আল ্ লাহর পরিবর ্ তে তারা যাদেরকে ডাকে, তারা কিছুই ফয়সালা করে না। নিশ ্ চয় আল ্ লাহ সবকিছু শুনেন, সবকিছু দেখেন।!

তিনি বললেন--'' আমি যদি এর পরে কোনো ব্যাপারে আপনাকে প্রশ্ন করি তবে আপনি আমাকে সঙ্গে নেবেন না, আপনি অবশ্যই আমার সন্বন্ধে এক ওজর- আপত্তি পেয়ে যাবেন।''।

আর তারা তোমাকে জিজ ্ ঞাসা করে রূহ সম ্ পর ্ কে। বলো--'' রূহ আমার প্রভুর নির্দেশাধীন, আর তোমাদের তো জ্ঞানভান্ডারের সৎসামান্য বৈ দেওয়া হয় নি।''।

Wait they then aught but the days of those who have passed away before them. Say thou: wait then, verily I am with you among those who wait.
তবে তারা কিসের প ্ রতীক ্ ষা করে ওদের দিনের অনুরূপ ব ্ যতীত যারা তাদের আগে গত হয়ে গেছে? বলোঃ'' তবে তোমরা প্রতীক্ষা কর, নিঃসন্দেহ আমিও তোমাদের সঙ্গে প্রতীক্ষমাণদের মধ্যে রয়েছি।''।

অথবা তারা কি আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ কে বাদ দিয়ে সুপারিশকারীদের ধরেছে? তুমি বলো--'' কি! যদিও তারা হচ্ছে এমন যে তারা কোনো- কিছুতেই কোনো ক্ষমতা রাখে না আর কোনো জ্ঞানবুদ্ধিও রাখে না?''?

We cannot say aught but that some of our gods have smitten you with evil. He said: Surely I call Allah to witness, and do you bear witness too, that I am clear of what you associate( with Allah).
বরং আমরাও তো বলি যে, আমাদের কোন দেবতা তোমার উপরে শোচনীয় ভূত চাপিয়ে দিয়েছে। হুদ বললেন- আমি আল ্ লাহকে সাক ্ ষী করেছি আর তোমাও সাক ্ ষী থাক যে, আমার কোন সম ্ পর ্ ক নাই তাঁদের সাথে যাদের কে তোমরা শরিক করছ;

They will say: yea! surely there came a warner Unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, are naught but in a great error.
তারাবলবেঃহ্যাঁ আমাদের কাছে সতর ্ ককারী আগমন করেছিল, অতঃপর আমরা মিথ ্ যারোপ করেছিলাম এবং বলেছিলামঃ আল ্ লাহ তা' আলা কোন কিছু নাজিল করেননি। তোমরা মহাবিভ ্ রান ্ তিতে পড়ে রয়েছ।

Reclining unto Allah, not associating aught with Him. And whosoever associateth aught with Allah, it is as though he had fallen from the heaven and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had blown him to a place remote.
আল ্ লাহর দিকে একনিষ ্ ট হয়ে, তাঁর সাথে শরীক না করে; এবং যে কেউ আল ্ লাহর সাথে শরীক করল; সে যেন আকাশ থেকে ছিটকে পড়ল, অতঃপর মৃতভোজী পাখী তাকে ছোঁ মেরে নিয়ে গেল অথবা বাতাস তাকে উড়িয়ে নিয়ে কোন দূরবর ্ তী স ্ থানে নিক ্ ষেপ করল।

And when it is said unto them: come to that which Allah hath sent down and to the apostle, they say: enough for us is that whereon we found our fathers. What! even though their fathers knew not aught nor were guided.
আর যখন তাদের বলা হয়--'' আল্লাহ্ যা নাযিল করেছেন তার দিকে আর রসূলের দিকে এস'', তারা বলে--'' আমাদের জন্য এ- ই যথেষ্ট যার উপরে আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের দেখেছি।'' কী! যদিও তাদের পিতৃপুরুষরা কিছুই জানতো না আর তারা হেদায়তও গ্রহণ করে নি।

And he said: O my sons! do not( all) enter by one gate and enter by different gates and I cannot avail you aught against Allah; judgment is only Allah 's; on Him do I rely, and on Him let those who are reliant rely.
তিনি আরো বললেন,'' হে আমার পুত্রগণ! তোমরা একই দরজা দিয়ে ঢুকো না, বরং তোমরা ভিন্ন ভিন্ন দরজা দিয়ে ঢুকবে। আল্লাহ্‌র বিরুদ্ধে তোমাদের জন্যে আমার কিছুই করার ক্ষমতা নেই। বিধান তো একমাত্র আল্লাহ্‌র বৈ তো নয়। তাঁর উপরেই আমি নির্ভর করি, আর তাঁরই উপরে তবে নির্ভর করুক নির্ভরশীলগণ।''।

And when it said unto them: follow that which Allah hath sent down, they say: nay, we shall follow that way whereon we found our fathers- even though their fathers understood not aught, nor were they guided aright?
আর যখন তাদের বলা হয়--'' অনুসরণ করো যা প্রত্যাদেশ আল্লাহ্ অবতারণ করেছেন'', তারা বলে--'' না, আমরা অনুসরণ করি তার যার উপরে আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের দেখেছি।'' কি! যদিও তাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের বুদ্ধিবিবেচনা কিছুই ছিল না, আর তারা পথনির্দেশ গ্রহণ করে নি?

And Allah hath brought you forth from the bellies of your mothers while ye know not aught, and He hath appointed for you hearing and sight and hearts that haply ye might give thanks.
আর আল ্ লাহ ্ তোমাদের নির ্ গত করেছেন তোমাদের মায়েদের গর ্ ভ থেকে, তোমরা কিছুই জানতে না, আর তোমাদের জন ্ য তিনি দিয়েছেন শ ্ রবণশক ্ তি ও দৃষ ্ টিশক ্ তি ও অন ্ তঃকরণ, যেন তোমরা কৃতজ ্ ঞতা প ্ রকাশ করো।

We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their aliha( gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught( to their lot) but destruction.
আমি কিন ্ তু তাদের প ্ রতি জুলুম করি নাই বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজের উপর অবিচার করেছে। ফলে আল ্ লাহকে বাদ দিয়ে তারা যেসব মাবুদকে ডাকতো আপনার পালনকর ্ তার হুকুম যখন এসে পড়ল, তখন কেউ কোন কাজে আসল না। তারা শুধু বিপর ্ যয়ই বৃদ ্ ধি করল।
