Nor were we of those who fed the indigent;

نہ مسکینوں کو کھانا کھلاتے تھے

Then he said:“The best of indigent ones are of three kinds.

امام صادق علیہ السلام نے فرمایا تین چیزین بہترین عمل ہیں

Nor were we of those who fed the indigent;

اور مسکین کو کھانا نہ دیتے تھے

(Some part is due) to the indigent Muhajirs, those who were expelled from their homes and their property.

(نیز یہ مال) واسطے ان مفلسوں وطن چھوڑنے والوں کے(لئے)جو نکالے آئے(گئے) ہیں اپنے گھروں سے اور مالوں سے

And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.

اور مسکین کو کھانا دینے کی رغبت نہیں دیتا

And they feed, for the love of God, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive.

اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی محبت میں کھانا کھلاتے ہیں مسکین، یتیم اور قیدیوں کو

And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.

اور مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا

A person who should give one mudd of foodstuffs to, indigent person for each day can give foodstuffs of atonement of a few days to one indigent person.

جس شخص کے لئے ہر روزے کے عوض ایک مد طعام فقیر کو دینا ضروری ہو وہ چند دنوں کا کفارہ ایک ہی فقیر کو دے سکتا ہے

And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

اور مسکین کو کھانے دینے کی رغبت نہ دیتا

And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive.

وہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی محبت میں مسکینوں، یتیموں اور قیدیوں کو کھانا کھلاتے ہیں۔'

And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

اور نہ فقیر کے کھانا کھلانے پر آمادہ کرتا تھا!

And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,-.

اور باوجود یہ کہ ان کو خود طعام کی خواہش(اور حاجت) ہے فقیروں اور یتیموں اور قیدیوں کو کھلاتے ہیں

And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

اور نہ مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب دیتا تھا

If the relatives(other than heirs) and the orphans and the indigent are present on the occasion of the division(of inheritance), give them also something out of it and say to them good and nice words.

اور اگر تقسیمِ(وراثت) کے موقع پر(غیر وارث)رشتہ دار اور یتیم اور محتاج موجود ہوں تو اس میں سے کچھ انہیں بھی دے دو اور ان سے نیک بات کہوo

And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

اور نہ وہ مسکین کے کھانا کھلانے کی رغبت دیتا تھا

(Some part is due) to the indigent Muhajirs, those who were expelled from their homes and their property, while seeking Grace from Allah and(His) Good Pleasure, and aiding Allah and His Messenger: such are indeed the sincere ones:-.

ان فقیر ہجرت کرنے والوں کے لیے جو اپنے گھروں اور مالوں سے نکالے گئے اللہ کا فضل اور اس کی رضا چاہتے اور اللہ و رسول کی مدد کرتے وہی سچے ہیں

His food was that of the indigent and lowly.

(۱٦)اِس کا گوشت كھانا حاجتمندی اورفقیری کی دلیل ہے

Those who did not enjoin righteousness or the feeding of the indigent.

وہ لوگ جو کام کی زیادتی اورمصروفیت کی وجہ سے کھانے کے وقت کا دھیان نہیں دیتے

Allah hath heard the taunt of those who say:"Truly, Allah is indigent and we are rich!"- We shall certainly record their word and(their act) of slaying the prophets in defiance of right, and We shall say:"Taste ye the penalty of the Scorching Fire!

بیشک اللہ نے سنا جنہوں نے کہا کہ اللہ محتاج ہے اور ہم غنی اور ہم غنی اب ہم لکھ رکھیں گے ان کا کہا اور انبیاء کو ان کا ناحق شہید کرنا اور فرمائیں گے کہ چکھو آگ کا عذاب،!

Those who are unable to do it,shall compensate by feeding an indigent.

اور جنہیں روزہ رکھنے کی طاقت نہ ہو توان کے ذمے ایک مسکین کے کھانے کا فدیہ ہے

Arrange marriages between the single men and women among your and between your slave men and slave women, who are righteous,,if they be indigent, Allah will provide means for them out of His bounty: Allah has boundless resources and He is AllKnowing.

اور جو تم میں مجرّد ہوں اور جو تمہارے غلام اورلونڈیاں نیک ہوں سب کے نکاح کرادو اگر وہ مفلس ہو ں گے تو الله اپنے فضل سے انہیں غنی کر دے گا اور الله کشائش والا سب کچھ جاننے والا ہے

But whoever among you is sick or on a journey, then(he shall fast) the same number of other days, and for those who are hardlyto do it,(there is) a redemption by feeding an indigent.

پھر جو تم میں سے بیمار ہو یا سفر میں ہو تو اتنے روزے اور دنوں میں رکھ لے اور جو لوگ اسے بہتمشکل سے ادا کرسکیں، وہ ایک مسکین کا کھانا فدیہ دیں

(فیء کا مال) ان مہاجر مسکینوں کے لیے ہے جو اپنے گھروں سے اور اپنے مالوں سے نکال دیئے گئے ہیں وه اللہ کے فضل اور اس کی رضامندی کے طلب گار ہیں اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی اور اس کے رسول کی مدد کرتے ہیں یہی راست باز لوگ ہیں

God has heard the taunt of those who say:‘Truly, God is indigent and we are rich!'.

اللہ نے ان لوگوں کی بات سن لی تھی جنہوں نے کہا کہ اللہ فقیر ہے اور ہم غنی ہیں

اللہ نے ان کی بات کوبھی سن لیا ہے جن کا کہنا ہے کہ خدا فقیر ہے اور ہم مالدار ہیں- ہم ان کی اس مہمل بات کو اور ان کے انبیائ کے ناحق قتل کرنے کو لکھ رہے ہیں اور انجام کار ان سے کہیں گے کہ اب جہّنم کا مزا چکھو!

And I wish to earn your mercy”-Allah(swt) said,“That is granted to the one who is merciful to the indigent during this night.”.

تیری رحمت چاہتا ہوں۔ ارشاد ہوا:میری رحمت اس شخص کے لیے ہے جو شب قدر کو مسکینوں پر رحم کرے

بیشک اللہ نے ان لوگوں کی بات سن لی جو کہتے ہیں کہ اللہ محتاج ہے اور ہم غنی ہیں، اب ہم ان کی ساری باتیں اور ان کا انبیاءکو ناحق قتل کرنا(بھی) لکھ رکھیں گے، اور(روزِ قیامت) فرمائیں گے کہ(اب تم) جلا ڈالنے والے عذاب کا مزہ چکھو،!

Those among you, who are bountiful and persons of means,should not swear on oath that they would withhold their help from their relatives, the indigent and those who have left their homes for the cause of Allah: they should forgive and forbear. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

اور جو لوگ تم میں سے مال و دولت اور وسعتوالے ہیں وہ قسم نہ کھائیں کہ وہ قرابتداروں، مسکینوں اور راہِ خدا میں ہجرت کرنے والوں کو کچھ نہیں دیں گے۔ چاہئے کہ یہ لوگ معاف کر دیں اور درگزر کریں۔ کیا تم یہ نہیں چاہتے کہ اللہ تمہیں بخش دے؟ اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا، بڑا رحم کرنے والا ہے

Charities are meant for the indigent and needy, and those who collect and distribute them, and those whom you wish to win over, and for redeeming slaves(and captives) and those who are burdened with debt, and in the cause of God, and the wayfarers: So does God ordain. God is all-knowing and all-wise.

صدقات(یعنی زکوٰة وخیرات) تو مفلسوں اور محتاجوں اور کارکنان صدقات کا حق ہے اور ان لوگوں کا جن کی تالیف قلوب منظور ہے اور غلاموں کے آزاد کرانے میں اور قرضداروں(کے قرض ادا کرنے میں) اور خدا کی راہ میں اور مسافروں(کی مدد) میں(بھی یہ مال خرچ کرنا چاہیئے یہ حقوق) خدا کی طرف سے مقرر کر دیئے گئے ہیں اور خدا جاننے والا(اور) حکمت والا ہے
