On the Korean peninsula the nuclear question  is still unresolved, and there is a need for a strengthening of mutual confidence among the States concerned.
The situation in the Near andMiddle East is strongly marked by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Iranian nuclear question.
The Israeli refusal to discuss the nuclear question in this context is giving rise to legitimate doubts and fears which cannot be beneficial to the peace process as a whole.

From a practical point of view, this means that the requirements of implementing paragraph 22 of Security Council resolution 687(1991)concerning the nuclear question have been met.
The North Korean nuclear question continues to pose a grave threat to the peace and security of East Asia and to the international community as a whole, as well as a serious challenge to the NPT regime.
Moreover, we reiterate our support for the Six-Party Talks to find a long-term solution to the Korean nuclear question through diplomacy and dialogue.
A resolution of the Iranian nuclear question would contribute to the international non-proliferation efforts and the achievement of a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction and their delivery vehicles.
In the aftermath of the Arab Spring, Arab Governments were becoming more accountable to their people,who were demanding a prompt resolution to the nuclear question in the Middle East.
However, certain forces which did not want the nuclear question on the Korean peninsula to be resolved fairly were continuing their attempts to make unjustified references to it in the documents of the Conference.
The representative of New Zealand had consciously ignored that fact and he called on him to take an objective approach to the issue, andnot consider the nuclear question in isolation from all other issues.
In the meantime,we hope that the ongoing negotiations on the Iranian nuclear question will lead to a lasting and peaceful settlement that ensures the safety and security of the countries of the region and avoids threats or unnecessary confrontations.
As a country in the East-Asian region, Malaysia wishes to see the successful conclusion of the bilateral andmultilateral efforts currently under way to redress the nuclear question in the Korean peninsula.
On the Iranian nuclear question, Burkina Faso hopes that common sense will prevail by reconciling Iran's rights to acquire civilian nuclear  power and the legitimate fears of the international community over military nuclear  proliferation.
Without addressing the background of this problem, I would like to note that our position was reasonable and constructive in spite of some elements of misunderstanding andeven pressure in regard to the so-called“Ukrainian nuclear question”.
We optimistically look forward to continuing the Iranian-European talks on Iran's nuclear question in order to reach a lasting and peaceful settlement and to ensure that the safety and security of the peoples and countries of the region are not exposed to any threat, danger or unnecessary new confrontations.
Thirdly, the Chinese delegation believes that the General Assembly resolution on the Agency's annual report should not enter into the specifics of the work of the Agency,especially on issues as controversial as the Korean nuclear question.
Similarly, the United Kingdom issued a major report entitled"The Road to 2010:Addressing the Nuclear Question in the Twenty-First Century", which proposed a three-stage process to achieve greater progress, transparency and control, arms reductions and steps to a world free of nuclear  weapons.
The Agreed Framework concluded in 1994 between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States of America had been welcomed by all the peoples of the world and had been approved by the Security Council and IAEA since it provided for specific ways andpractical measures to achieve a final resolution of the nuclear question in the Korean peninsula.
My delegation earnestly wishes that the Joint Statement, through its full and effective implementation, will lead to steady and substantial progress,not only for the complete resolution of the nuclear question, but also for the achievement of an enduring peace on the Korean peninsula and the consolidation of the global nuclear  non-proliferation regime.
