The report of the Secretary-General in documents A/52/385 and Corr.1 contains the proposed budget for the operation of MONUA for the period from 1 July 1997 to 30 June 1998 in the amount of $162.1 million gross,which includes requirements for the phased drawdown of UNAVEM III.

The following day, the Council unanimously adopted resolution 2037(2012),by which it extended the mandate of UNMIT until 31 December 2012 and endorsed its phased drawdown in accordance with the Government's wishes, conditions on the ground and following the successful completion of the 2012 electoral process.
The Advisory Committee was informed that the phased drawdown of the civilian staff component(see ibid., annex I. C, para. 8, table) would ensure the maintenance of a sufficient number of experienced international and local staff to complete the liquidation tasks in an orderly and timely manner.
The overall increased requirements are offset in part by lower estimated reimbursements for the self-sustainment of troop- and police-contributing Governments,which take into account the planned phased drawdown of military and formed police unit personnel.
The increased resource requirements are partially offset by the phased drawdown by 29 February 2008 of 600 United Nations police officers, from the Mission's total authorized strength of 1,045 United Nations police officers in 2006/07 to 445 officers by 29 February 2008.
Lastly, in Timor-Leste, following the peaceful and orderly conduct of two rounds of presidential elections and the parliamentary elections, the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste(UNMIT)had started a phased drawdown, which was expected to lead to the closure of the Mission on 31 December 2012.
