VI. The Human Rights Committee's revised guidelines for reports of States parties.
The Committee will also conclude matters not finalized in 2004, including primarily the Committee's revised guidelines.
General discussion:“The revision of the Committee's revised guidelines regarding the form and contents of reports to be submitted by States parties under articles 16 and 17 of the Covenant”.
In submitting its third periodic report, which is expected by 31 March 2002,the State party must take into account the Committee's revised guidelines.
The attention of the State party is drawn to the Committee's revised Guidelines for the preparation of reports.
In the Committee's revised guidelines regarding the form and contents of reports, E/1991/23, annex IV(section relating to article 11 of the Covenant). States parties are requested to provide various types of information pertaining directly to the practice of forced evictions.

Mr. O'Flaherty, pointing out that the suggested page limits referred to in the harmonized guidelines had in fact been drafted by the Secretariat,proposed that the limits should simply be referred to in the Committee's revised guidelines.

The CHAIRMAN took note of the delegation's request to carry over consideration of its report tothe sixtieth session and called the attention of the delegation to the availability of technical assistance form the Advisory Services of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and to the Committee's revised guidelines for the submission of periodic reports.

The submission by the State party of a detailed and frank periodic report,prepared in accordance with the Committee's revised guidelines for the preparation of reports, and of additional written information on the situation prevailing in the State of Chiapas, requested by the Committee in its decision 2(46) of 29 March 1995.
The Committee recommends that the Government of Solomon Islands avail itself of the advisory services of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, so that it may submit, as soon as possible, a comprehensive report on the implementation of the Covenant in conformity with the Committee's revised guidelines and with particular emphasis on the issues raised and concerns expressed in the present concluding observations.
The Committee requests that the State party submit its second periodic report by 31 July 2004; this report should be prepared in compliance with the Committee's revised guidelines, provide gender-disaggregated data and up-to-date statistics on the condition of women, and give particular attention to the recommendations made in these concluding observations.
It considers that, aside from exceptional instances(such as complicated federal structures within a State party), especially in the case of consecutive reports and in view of the practice of submitting identical core documents to all human rights treaty bodies, a report of around 100pages should be sufficient, if prepared in accordance with the Committee's revised guidelines, to give a concise picture of the state of the implementation of the Covenant in the country concerned.
The Committee recommends that the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines avail itself of the advisory services of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in order to enable it to submit as soon as possible a comprehensive report on the implementation of the Covenant in conformity with the Committee's revised guidelines regarding the form and contents of reports 4/ and with particular emphasis on the issues raised and concerns expressed in the present concluding observations.
The Committee recommends that the Government of Solomon Islands avail itself of the advisory services of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, so that it may submit, as soon as possible, a comprehensive report on the implementation of the Covenant in conformity with the Committee's revised guideline s and with particular emphasis on the issues raised and concerns expressed in the present concluding observations concluding observations, para. 25.
It is noted with regret that the report under consideration did not comply with the Committee's revised general guidelines for the preparation of reports.
