I would like to ask the following question:will accession to the Framework Convention change anything?
Slovakia must honour its international commitments, the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.
Could you guarantee me then that, before the end of the Czech Presidency,you will have ratified the framework convention- yes or no?
We also have commitments under the international obligation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control- all these will be brought together to decide what the next steps should be.

In addition, the Commission is fully committed to continuously solving theseissues at international level, in particular through the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Here is another interesting figure: to help the developing countries, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change- that again- tells us that around USD 100 billion a year would be needed to finance all these projects.

I would just like to say that there is no formal link between the International Tropical Timber Agreement andother agreements such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade(FLEGT) bilateral agreements.
These are the following: the protection of privacy when fighting terrorism;the need to ratify the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the Charter for Regional or Minority Languages; and the prohibition of discrimination concerning stateless persons.
The Commission tells us that it is taking 10% of this tinypercentage for climate change- that is to say, 0.1% of GDP- yet the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Stern report, the UNDP and the World Bank are telling us that if we really want to combat its effects, we should be mobilising between 0.6 and 1.6% of GDP.
