Article 1- Amendments to the Visa Code.
The EU Visa Code establishes the procedures and conditions for issuing‘Schengen visas. .
Policy package B-D: These options would require EU level regulatory action to amend the Visa Code.
In addition, the Visa Code gives the Member States additional options to waive the visa fees for further categories, such as, for example, children.

The rules for processing short-stay visas are already regulated by a regulation that is directly applicable,i.e. the Visa Code.

The Union's Visa Code should take effect in a month's time, although, as the analysis of the actions taken by Member States on long-stay visas and the awarding of residence permits shows, various versions and implementations are in place, with the consequence that citizens' fundamental rights have been violated.
Recalling the importance it attaches to people to people contacts to the benefit of Belarusian population at large, the Council takes positive note of the ongoing work tofully use the existing flexibilities offered by the Visa Code, in particular the possibility for Member States to waive and reduce visa fees for certain categories of citizens.

In case the legislators reach agreement on the present proposal before there is prospect of imminent agreement on the proposal for a Regulation establishing the touring visa, the provisions in this proposal relating to the envisaged touring visa(Articles 3(7), 12(3), 18(6)) should not be maintained for adoption butbe inserted later by an amendment to the Visa Code when agreement on the touring visa proposal has eventually been reached.
