The sixth issue concerned monitoring of commitments and avoiding overloads.
Renewed and increased support for Africa should be matched by a renewed effort to create an effective mechanism for the review and monitoring of commitments and disbursements to Africa.

This report covers the monitoring of commitments under the first phase of the timetable, lasting from 15 January to 15 April 1997, and of commitments whose implementation was scheduled for the second phase, ending in December 1997.
