They said:" Ah! woe to us! We were indeed wrong-doers!".
فلم يكن لهم من جواب إلا اعترافهم بجرمهم وقولهم: يا هلاكنا، فقد ظلمنا أنفسنا بكفرناWe found no( loyalty to any) covenant in most of them. Nay, most of them We found wrong-doers.
وما وجدنا لأكثرهم» أي الناس« من عهد» أي وفاء بعهدهم يوم أخذ الميثاق« وإن» مخففة« وجدنا أكثرهم لفاسقينHad Allah willed, He could have made them one community,but Allah bringeth whom He will into His mercy. And the wrong-doers have no friend nor helper.
ولو شاء الله لجعلهم أمة واحدة» أي على دين واحد، وهوالإسلام« ولكن يدخل من يشاء في رحمته والظالمون» الكافرون« ما لهم من وليّ ولا نصير» يدفع عنهم العذابAllah only forbids you to be friends with those who have fought against you on account of religion and who have driven you out of your homes and have abetted in your expulsion. And any who make friends with them,they are the wrong-doers.
إنما ينهاكم الله عن الذين قاتلوكم في الدين وأخرجوكم من دياركم وظاهروا» عاونوا« على إخراجكم أن تولوهم» بدل اشتمال من الذين، أي تتخذونهمأولياء« ومن يتولهم فأولئك هم الظالمونIf Allah had so willed, He could have made them a single people;but He admits whom He will to His Mercy; and the Wrong-doers will have no protector nor helper.
ولو شاء الله لجعلهم أمة واحدة» أي على دين واحد، وهو الإسلام« ولكنيدخل من يشاء في رحمته والظالمون» الكافرون« ما لهم من وليّ ولا نصير» يدفع عنهم العذابAnd cry not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee,for if thou didst so then wert thou of the wrong-doers.
ولا تدع» تعبد« من دون الله ما لا ينفعك» إن عبدته« ولا يضرك» إنلم تعبده« فإن فعلت» ذلك فرضا« فإنك إذًا من الظالمينThen gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers.
فرجعوا إلى أنفسهم» بالتفكر« فقالوا» لأنفسهم« إنكم أنتم الظالمون» بعبادتكم من لا ينطقThey then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers.
فرجعوا إلى أنفسهم» بالتفكر« فقالوا» لأنفسهم« إنكم أنتم الظالمون» بعبادتكم من لا ينطقThey said:" Who has done this to our aliha( gods)?He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers.".
قالوا» بعد رجوعهم ورؤيتهم ما فعل«من فعل هذا بآلهتنا إنه لمن الظالمين» فيهThereupon they realized their own foolishness and said," We ourselves are wrong-doers".
فرجعوا إلى أنفسهم» بالتفكر« فقالوا» لأنفسهم« إنكم أنتم الظالمون» بعبادتكم من لا ينطق( When they saw the idols in this state) they said:" Who has done this to our gods?Surely he is one of the wrong-doers.".
قالوا» بعد رجوعهم ورؤيتهم ما فعل«من فعل هذا بآلهتنا إنه لمن الظالمين» فيهHell shall be their bed, and also above them their covering.Thus do We reward the wrong-doers.
لهم من جهنم مهاد» فراش« ومن فوقهم غواشٍ» أغطية من النارجمع غاشية وتنوينه عوض من الياء المحذوفة« وكذلك نجزي الظالمينTheirs will be a bed of hell, and over them coverings(of hell). Thus do We requite wrong-doers.
لهم من جهنم مهاد» فراش« ومن فوقهم غواشٍ» أغطية من النارجمع غاشية وتنوينه عوض من الياء المحذوفة« وكذلك نجزي الظالمينAnd if a breath of the torment ofthy Lord were to touch them, they will say: woe unto us! we have been wrong-doers.
ولئن مستهم نفحة» وقعة خفيفة« منعذاب ربك ليقولن يا» للتنبيه« ويلنا» هلاكنا« إنا كنا ظالمين» بالإشراك وتكذيب محمدAnd assuredly there came to them an apostle from among them, but they belied him,wherefore the torment took hold of them while yet they were wrong-doers.
He said: Allah forbid that we should take anyone but him with whom we found our stuff;verily then we should be the wrong-doers.
قال يوسف: نعتصم بالله ونستجير به أن نأخذ أحدًا غير الذي وجدنا المكيال عنده-كما حكمتم أنتم-، فإننا إن فعلناما تطلبون نكون في عداد الظالمينUnless you need plain-clothed officers, all our security guards wear ourstandard uniform for instant visibility to any trespassers or wrong-doers.
إلا إذا كنت بحاجة لضباط يرتدون ملابس مدنية، جميع حراس أمننايرتدون الزي الرسمي كمعيار لرؤية لحظية إلى أي من المتعدين أو الظالمينAnd when Our messengers brought Abraham the good news, they said: Lo! we are about to destroy the people of that township,for its people are wrong-doers.
ولما جاءت رسلنا إبراهيم بالبشرى» بإسحاق ويعقوب بعده« قالوا إنا مهلكوا أهل هذه القرية» أي قرية لوط« إنأهلها كانوا ظالمين» كافرينJoseph said:" Allah forbid that we should seize any except him with whom we found our good. Were we to do so,we would surely be one of the wrong-doers.".
قال يوسف: نعتصم بالله ونستجير به أن نأخذ أحدًا غير الذي وجدنا المكيال عنده-كما حكمتم أنتم-، فإننا إن فعلناما تطلبون نكون في عداد الظالمينAnd: O Adam: dwell thou and thy spouse in the Garden and eat ye twain thereof Whence ye will,and approach not yonder tree lest ye twain become of the wrong-doers.
ويا آدم اسكن أنت وزوجك حواء الجنة، فكُلا من ثمارها حيث شئتما، ولا تأكلا من ثمرة شجرة(عَيَّنها لهما)، فإن فعلتما ذلك كنتما من الظالمين المتجاوزين حدود اللهMy Lord! Forgive me and my parents and him who entereth my housebelieving, and believing men and believing women, and increase not the wrong-doers in aught save ruin.
رب اغفر لي ولوالديَّ» وكانا مؤمنين« ولمن دخل بيتي» منزلي أومسجدي« مؤمنا وللمؤمنين والمؤمنات» إلى يوم القيامة« ولا تزد الظالمين إلا تبارا» هلاكا فأهلكواAnd( unto man): O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden and eat from whence ye will,but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.
و» قال« يا آدم اسكن أنت» تأكيد للضمير في اسكن ليعطف عليه« وزوجك» حواء بالمد« الجنة فكلا And: O Adam: dwell thou and thy spouse in the Garden and eat ye twain thereof Whence ye will,and approach not yonder tree lest ye twain become of the wrong-doers.
و» قال« يا آدم اسكن أنت» تأكيد للضمير في اسكن ليعطف عليه« وزوجك» حواء بالمد« الجنة فكلا من حيثشئتما ولا تقربا هذه الشجرة» بالأكل منها وهي الحنطة« فتكونا من الظالمينChoose not your fathers nor your brethren for friends if they take pleasure in disbelief rather thanfaith. Whoso of you taketh them for friends, such are wrong-doers.
ونزل فيمن ترك الهجرة لأجل أهله وتجارته:« يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إناستحبوا» اختاروا« الكفر على الإيمان ومن يتولهم منكم فأولئك هم الظالمونBelievers, do not take your fathers and your brothers for your allies if they choose unbelief in preference to belief.Whosoever of you takes them as allies those are wrong-doers.
ونزل فيمن ترك الهجرة لأجل أهله وتجارته:« يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إناستحبوا» اختاروا« الكفر على الإيمان ومن يتولهم منكم فأولئك هم الظالمونO Ye who believe! take not your fathers and your brothers for friends if they love infidelity above faith.Whosoever of you then befriendeth them then those! they are the wrong-doers.
ونزل فيمن ترك الهجرة لأجل أهله وتجارته:« يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا آباءكم وإخوانكم أولياء إناستحبوا» اختاروا« الكفر على الإيمان ومن يتولهم منكم فأولئك هم الظالمونTheir case is like that of the people of Pharaoh and those before them: they rejected the signs of their Lord as false and so We destroyed them for their sins, and caused the people of Pharaoh to drown.For they were wrong-doers all.
كدأب آل فرعون والذين من قبلهم كذَّبوا بآيات ربهم فأهلكناهم بذنوبهم وأغرقنا آل فرعون» قومه معه«وكلّ» من الأمم المكذبة« كانوا ظالمينAllah forbiddeth you only those who warred against you on account of religion and have driven you out from your homes and helped to drive you out, that ye make friends of them.Whosoever maketh friends of them-( All) such are wrong-doers.
إنما ينهاكم الله عن الذين قاتلوكم في الدين وأخرجوكم من دياركم وظاهروا» عاونوا« على إخراجكم أن تولوهم» بدل اشتمال من الذين، أي تتخذونهمأولياء« ومن يتولهم فأولئك هم الظالمونAllah only forbiddeth you with regard to those who fought against you on account of religion and drave you out from your homes and helped in driving you out, that ye should befriend them. And whosoever shall befriend them, then those!they are the wrong-doers.
إنما ينهاكم الله عن الذين قاتلوكم في الدين وأخرجوكم من دياركم وظاهروا» عاونوا« على إخراجكم أن تولوهم» بدل اشتمال من الذين، أي تتخذونهمأولياء« ومن يتولهم فأولئك هم الظالمون
